Bioware. Mass Effect. Need I say more. This game with out a doubt is a winner in my books, and a top all time favorite. The story was beautifully written by Drew Karpyshyn who authored the Mass Effect novel, Mass Effect: Revelations. Combined with a compelling story, Bioware brings together great fun and an awesome replay value.

The graphics are stunning. The cinematics used gameplay renderings, but the level of detail in those renders is so high that it feels like a movie in both the cinematics and gameplay. The only problem encountered with this game was some glitching as textures loaded. This occurs frequently.

The sound was also superb, however nothing special in this department deemed it a 9. My only praise in the sheer diversification of voices in this game. Nearly every interactable NPC in the game had 10 or more pieces of dialog associated with them, and for the most part each voice was uniquely different.

The controls were wonderful. running and maneuvering was nothing special, just like any other game. There is a duck behind cover ability. But the the main points in controls comes from the weapons menu and the ability menu. activating either menu paused the game while you made your switch in weapons, or in order to chose your desired skill. The uniqueness of these menus which fit a lot of power into a small control grants it a high score.

The story, as mentioned before was amazing. At some points in the beginning it can seem a little slow and dry but towards the end, and not giving away any spoilers, it really makes you think and appreciate it. The story also leaves you hinting towards a sequel, which is confirmed by the way.

The game is absolutely fun. If you find yourself with the content, there's 6 different classes to choice from. 3 core ones; adept (biotics), engineer, and soldier... and from these three core classes there are hybrids. Behind a diverse range of possible play styles, it's simply a gripping story that makes you want to play again.

Once again the replay value is great. The main reasons for this are the class aspect and the achievements. Once you unlock achievements on certain classes, say you unlock the assault rifle achievement on a soldier, you can now allow any new character regardless of class yo use that skill, however only one bonus skill can be chose. Really it boils down to the fun... However coupled with a diverse class line up and the achievement system, it requires 3 complete 100% completion run throughs to accumulate all 1025 gamerpoints for the game. It sound probably take about 60 hours if you hurry.

Very nice! I can't wait until Napalm is huge and I have the time to play all these badass games. I have heard great things about ME.

I think its great that people are still willing to pay good money for high-quality SP RPG. It is a good sign!

I've been a big fan of Bioware and it's last line up of SP RPGs... You should pick up Mass Effect when you have the time, it's a wonderful game. By that time though, Mass Effect 2 might be out! lol... It's suppose to be a trilogy. And if you're more of a PC fanboy, Mass Effect is coming out for the PC soon too with an improvement UI.

Like the Soviet Commander said in the original Red Alert said during a cut scene as the Allies launched an attack on a forward base, "Only time will tell... Only time will tell"... *Takes a smoke of his pipe*

I have no idea why I though of that. Maybe because I have the utmost confidence NR will be off and running one day, successful as can be.

I think the only reason I remembered that cut scene is because it was part of like the 2nd or third mission, and as a kid I lacked the mental capacity to get much further in that game.
