I Need New Games...

Blog Code

You know you need new games when you're sitting in front of your xbox and you go, holy cow... I've played many of these games, many times over, and I can't remember the last time I bought a new game. But now suddenly I feel completely overwhelmed for the fact that there seems to be so many new games coming out that I won't have any money left in my accounts after dorm shopping and books. Lets see, Spore! Whoop Whoop! Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.... Hmmm... Wow maybe that was it, I think I was just thinking of too many games. Still when a games are $60 a pop, it gets expensive fast :p... Remember in the good old days when games were $20? Those were the days.

For the next two weeks, I'll be gone on vacation starting tomorrow! :( So sad! For the first week my family will be renting a beach house and the next week I'm off to a Lutheran Leadership camp, despite the fact that I'm Roman Catholic :)! So with that note when I fall off the face of the earth for two weeks, don't worry, I'll be back!

Oh and meteor shower... On the night of the 11th, well more like the early AM hours of the 12th, the Perseids Meteor Shower will be at it's height so get outside and watch it, you'll be able to see about 1 meteor every minute during that time, but any night before then and after you'll still see meteors! Have fun!

Well I decided to find out.

Like any self-respecting gamer, I bought the game and at least played it through once. This happened to be on the regular difficultly. And well since I've been playing a lot of Bad Company lately and everyone is saying CoD4 is better, I decided to get into CoD4 again, for since I've beaten it, I haven't picked it up again, despite it being an extremely good game. So, I'm playing through on hardened to warm up for veteran, because, well, I'm an achievement whore, and I noticed all the achievements are for SP. But eventually I will be playing online, and hopefully enjoying it. But I think for now BC has an edge over CoD4 because of the better graphics (it's plain as day), and the destructible environments. It took me a few seconds to realize that this door I just knifed 5 times isn't destructible in CoD.

Anyway end rant... It short I'm playing CoD4 again like every other person in the world and their mother.

On a side note... last day of work suckahs!!!! But soon I'll be away for two weeks and I'll lapse into video game withdrawal.

Well I have three days off from work this week in a row! :)

So you guessed it I'm playing lots of video games. Anyway a few days ago my friend James knew I was frustrated with his favorite game Dead Rising, so he tried to start me off and got me to like level 8, so today I started playing and got all the way to level 20... I'm really excited about it now. Escorting survivors is obnoxious though, especially if you have more than one... Plus it seems like the zombies triple when you try and escort people back through Paradise Plaza, it's annoying... But I have two books now for the small chainsaws so they last 9 times longer I think right now. I'm at like 3am on the last day, I'm just playing through to get the story then I'll play again for achievements and crap. I hear 7 day survivor and saint are some of the most difficult achievements ever.

Lan Party this Tuesday... Will be the third one my friends have had over here this summer. Probably the last since a lot of people begin leaving for college mid-august but I'm sure I'll be having small ones again before I leave on August 31. We're looking at Halo3, GoW, GTAIV, and BF: Bad Company for the main headliner games, and a few others, but those are the big ones. I just need to figure out a way to cool down the basement for this party. When he have these lan parties the basement reaches in excess of 90 degrees and we have a humidity problem down here so it gets up to like 50% humidity. Suggestions? lol...

I'm also patiently waiting (NOT) for my new computer. It's sexy!

I just want to jump into an Infernus with an SMG, break my drivers side window open and start unloading on the citizens of what I'm pretending is Liberty City. Unfortunately this will never happen. :(

Right now I'm really hyped about I have no idea, I'm just really excited about gaming. I'm getting back into one of my favorite 360 games, Mass Effect. 3 more playthroughs and I'll have all 1050 gamerpoints. Yeah 3 seems like a lot but it's really not, not when the game is so amazing. Then actually sometime during that I'll complete the last mission in Bad Company on Hard and get the last four gold bars to finish all my singleplayer achievements for that game. Then I need to fo back to Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and play all the songs in the game on expert, I have two more, that's a 40 point achievement. Then I have a whole slew of games to beat for points... Bioshock, Assassins Creed, Doom (lol yep I went there), Dead Rising, and oops forgot... At some point I want to get 100% completion in GTA, that's probably worth another 200 gamerpoints somewhere. I don't know, I'm really lame when it comes to gamerpoints but I think I'm so bad ass... I have 4800, but 800 of those have come really fast recently, so I'm trying to keep my momentum up, because I remember the days when I thought getting 1,000 more would take months.

Anyway, I'm tired worked my butt off today and I need to do it tomorrow and the day after too... So I'm getting some sleep... Plus my girl said we might not see each other this week since she's so busy :(

So yep... addicted to Bad Company. Beat singleplayer on normal and I'm on Ghost Town now on hard. Have all the collectibles and 4 more gold bars to get (they're all on Ghost Town). Yep. But the game really isn't meant for singleplayer though... This is my first BF game but BF games are meant for multiplayer and that's really where it shines through. For the past 3 weeks since I've gotten it, I've had a friend come over with a box and a TV and we've played atleast twice a week. Last night we had a big group, 4 of us... It was awesome. I play support, my friend pushed me into it cause he was playing Bad Company before all of us. Anyway, I was doing ok, I was a newb for a good week or two, you know 150 was an awesome score for me. Well I finally found out the gun support starts out with is the best all around so I wasted 2 unlock points on other shit support weapons. But aside from that I fell into my groove and I really started to to well last night, consistently scoring over 200 with a high score of like 600. But I'm tired... Gosh... We played from 10pm to 5:30am. Hah!

The Perfect Sandwich: A Deductive Analysis of the PB&J

We are all familiar with the legendary peanut butter sandwich. To many it's lusciously sweet and gooey consistency brings upon ecstasy to the palate. But one must question; what is the perfect concoction of this mouth watering delight? Can the perfect ratio of peanut butter and jelly be objectively deducted, along with the perfect selection of bread? The answer however is not clear. Part of the perfect sandwich can only be controlled by man, while the other, controlled by the physical limitations of our world.

So what is it that us humans do to contribute to the creation of the perfect sandwich? The answer encompasses slightly more than half of the factors that goes into the PB&J. Us humans have the choice of bread. Wheat? Potato? White Potato? Pumpernickel? However our choices are merely limited to the scope of grains available on planet Earth. Nonetheless, with our available resources, we are tasked with the choice. The next elements of the sandwich that we are in control of are not only the type of jelly and peanut butter, but also the amounts and ratios of the two. However once again we are limited in multiple ways during this step of the sandwich making process. Jelly or jam? Smooth or chunky peanut butter? But most limiting is both the amount of jelly and the ratio thereof in comparison to the peanut butter. While peanut butter seems to exhibit both adhesive and cohesive properties when applied to the bread, jelly seems to lack the adhesive factor and seems to have a weak affinity for cohesion. Therefore after the sandwich is complete it is likely the creator will begin to experience dripping of the jelly. This within itself is a ratio control. You can only administer a certain amount of jelly before the sandwich itself starts expelling excess jelly! However is should be noted that an important human controlled factor in the sandwich is the peanut butter because not only can you control the amount but also the ratio from the peanut butter aspect.

So in conclusion, why is the PB&J such a delicious treat? Simply because the jelly appears to be a major regulating factor in the creation and ultimately the consumption of the sandwich. However it is in the hands of the creator to determine the perfect bread and finite amount of peanut butter to please his/her self. Otherwise, the beauty of the sandwich is sanctified within the physical and biological limitations of our world.

Seems to fit the title in two ways... Just seems like how my life is going, and it's also the final song in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith which is the only song in that game I'm stuck on! Really though... GH: Aerosmith is an easy game. I started going through it on Expert expecting to get stuck on the last set and never finish it (much like GH3... Raining Blood and Cliffs of Dover :x)... But no, it was very easy. Got stuck on the single guitar battle in the game. Beat it though in 20 minutes. If you don't get the first power-up you're set up to lose. Also... I'm playing through Bad Company seriously now. It's a really good game. I love it. It's sex in Battlefield form. Soo... In conclusion, due to these two games, I'm not over 4000 gamerpoints! oh yea! wooo! I feel like I'll never bee satisfied though... I got like 200 today... But alas, 5000 will never be enough... Nor will 10000. :(

MUST PLAY MORE GAMES!

Binge Gaming and That Special Someone

Well I've been so busy recently that I haven't had time to game a lot... Between prom, graduation, grad parties, work, hanging out with friends, and dating, I just today began to binge game. Yes... binge gaming, imagine binge drinking, but GAMING! Anyway last night I stayed over my friends house and we played Rock Band with his older sister. She's really cool. I first met her in school, since she's substitute teaching there for now, while she searches for a teaching job. Well anyway so it's like hanging out with a teacher... But not really anymore, the novelty is gone, she's more like my friend's sister now than a teacher to me... Anyway so we jammed to Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band. My friend and I talked gaming before we passed out... This led to him letting me take Bioshock to play. Then he had gotten Battlefield: Bad Company... So I played it a little bit which led me to purchase it today... Along with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, and finally for shits and giggles I picked up the full version of the Spore Creature Editor because it was only 10 dollars. Not much when I just spent 120. Then I get home and dabble with all three then go over to Rockband and beat solo tour on medium drums. And well Anna should be over soon for a nice little casual movie/date thing, so I think my binge is done.

So all in all let's recap:
1) GH3/RB
2) Purchased GH:A, Bad Company, Spore Creature Editor
3) Played GH:A, Band Company
4) Beat Rockband on Drums (Medium)
5) Yeah... Probably do the same tomorrow lawls

Oh and my first date with Anna... Interesting! It was very good! But man it was funky lol... Picked her up at her house... Contemplated going to the door or just calling her... So I grew a pair and went to the door. Of course she invited me in. Of course her extended family was up from Florida, who were all finishing up a big Italian style dinner. So I said hi.. Awkward silence... Then we exchanged a few words... Cracked a joke... Everyone lit up and smiled. I won them over. We left. At this point where we're going was a surprise, all she knew was "ice cream". So we go to this place by the shore that makes there own ice cream. So we got amazing ice cream and we head down to the beach. We sit on the pier and eat ice cream until the sunsets. Then we sit there until it's dark. She's worrying that she's keeping me from hanging out with my friends after (lawls).... So we get up and walk on the beach. About 100 feet down we see a lifeguard bench. So we just on top of it and sit for two hours. Blah blah blah... We cuddle, we hold hands, we talk. Nice casual first date. We see police lights down on the far side of the beach for a while... Then they go away and come over to our side. They were looking in cars and stuff... Well eventually these two people got two tickets and left. We thought nothing of it and continued cuddling and talking. This other couple passes us and goes lays down on the beach 50 feet to the right of us. I thought they were gonna do it, but I think they were just laying down and talking... lawls. So we eventually leave and I drive her back. I figure I'll walk her to the door and see if I can get maybe a kiss on the cheek (I don't wanna rush it). Sooo... Low and behold her father just got back from the store so I walk her to her house say bye and awkwardly walk away as her dad goes inside with Anna. So I go to my friends house the rest of the night....

The next morning... Well actually this afternoon I walk out to my car to go home from my friends house, and I see a piece of paper on my car. "Fuck" I said... I knew instantly what it was. I had gotten a parking ticket while we were at the beach. Apparently you can't park in the lots around that beach after dark. All in all the date cost 8 bucks... Very casual, very cute. For more intimate couples it could be a very romantic date. But no.... My date now costs me 58 bucks because of a parking ticket... Worth it though? Every penny. <3

Should be fun... Second lan party at my house... Unfortunately I have work tomorrow 9:45-4:00! Ugh! I'm gonna be a zombie... But it's sooo worth it!

I've been having a hard time getting into it, I don't like how weak your character is in the beginning (I hear it gets better around level 15), and I also hate the lack of autosave, or the lack of enough save locations. I couldn't handle it, I reformatted and then reinstalled windows... Luckily I was able to get into safe mod on my previous install of XP and transfer my music, photos, school work, and other important files over... Now I Just need good virus software to scan it. Just as preliminary protection (when in doubt pull out), I downloaded ad-aware and AVG Anti-Virus, both from download.com and did scans on my hard drive.

Any one have suggestions on the best anti-virus software?

Oh and to christen the new computer the first game to be installed is Diablo 2: LoD :)

Help! Virus!

Blog Code
  • Mood: Shocked

Hmmm you have no idea how bad this virus is. I of course was doing something that involved a amount good risk of contracting a virus or some sort of spyware. And of course I didn't take the precautionary measures and I think I've just contracted the late stages of the AIDS equivelent of a computer virus. At first my computer began to run slow, very slow. I was trying to play Hellgate London at the time, and it was just so slow, I mean like 10 FPS on the lowest settings from this virus. Then within an hour after exiting the game, my background had now changed and said "COMPUTER INFECTED: CLICK HERE FOR VIRUS SOFTWARE"... I'm not that dumb. My quickbar clock also said ALERT VIRUS on it. So I'm like shit let's go into task manager and see what the hell is doing this. Ctrl+Alt+Delete... "Access to Task Manager has been disabled by your Administrator."... *Gasp*.... So then I'm like fuck it, time to scan my computer head to toe... I go to load up my anti-virus and ad-aware, and man is this wierd... When I try to open any program, for any reason, it askes me which program I would like to open that program it... WTF!? It is a program. So being pretty useless I figured I should get my important files off my main hard drive while I still can... Guess what? In My Computer neither of the two hard drives showed up... They just disappeared.

I can pretty much sit at my desk and stare at the screen and do nothing. I'm totally screwed from this virus... And I had a really big itch to play Diablo II, I have a feeling it'd be more enjoyable than Hellgate London. Thinking of making a MF character first, probably a sorcercer, then as my second character a javazon or a druid. My friend said there is a leveling glitch which people call a "G rush" and I could be over 50 in a day. Who knows, I'll check it out. If not I'll still enjoy playing D2.

Oh and yeah, I'm on a mac-mini right now. We have two around the house as spare computers, but I stole this one for my room for the time being. A nice little bugger it is. Really just meant for casual use like web browsing and the occassional uploading of pictures.

I have lots of work to do too, 2 projects I need to finish for school tonight so I haven't played GTA4 in 2 days. Soooo sad.

Yay, book money... Tomorrow is awards night, see if I get anymore (I assume so since I was INVITED).

Playing GTA4 Like a madman though. I'm pretty close to the end, all I'm going to say is that I had the encounter with Darko, so I should be done very soon. I got a few achievements today after not getting a bunch for a while. 5 for taking a taxi to another island without skipping the ride, 55 for reaching $500,000 and I think another 10 for completing a mission, forgot which one.

Nothing like 5 TVs and 5 xbox360s in one room. The truly enjoyable part of the experience was the human element. Sure we could have had all 6 of us hop on xbox live and play all night but it was so much different and more enjoyable to have us all in one room. The title says it all. The game I'm most excited about and enthused to play has died on me. About two weeks ago I began noticing circular scratchings around the disc. It was only minor, but eventually it became worse and the "unable to read disc" errors became more and more frequent. Yesterday within 30 seconds of loading up on Feros the game would crash... But I persisted, only for this to happen 5 more times within the same time interval. So Mass Effect is dead. Then to make sure it's not the system I stick in Viva Pinata because who on earth would play that!? So I left it in overnight, about 9 hours and nothing happpened. I talked with my dad about it and he said the disc could be warped and not sitting right or the disc could have some other similar mechanical problem.

=(... And no one has GTA4. So alas, I play Eve.

Heck I even played C&C3: Tiberium Wars but I couldn't fit it in the blog title. Nonetheless I made significant progress on my engineer in Mass Effect, only need to get neural shock and AI hacking achievements, and well soldier and Asari ally achievements this playthrough. I'm torn though, I'm probably going to make a new character to go through on hardcore and insane, however having played a Vanguard, than an engineer, and a little bit of an adept I don't know which mix I want to choose for the insanity playthrough. I think a sentinel would be cool, however would I pick neural shock, singularity, or assault rifles as my bonus skill? As an Adept the choice is easy; assault rifle. As a Vanguard I'd pick singularity... And as an infiltrator I don't know, I haven't put thought into it, but I don't think I'd pick an infiltrator to go through on insanity.

I also picked up the new wireless black Les Paul guitar hero controller for the 360. Oh my god! It's simply amazing. Ascetically and wirelessly... It's my first wireless guitar so I'm excited. Plus it looks so sleek, and amazing just black, I didn't have it in me to deface it with any stickers.

Eve Online. I just renewed my subscription. However I donated my wealth to my corp when I quit the game so I'm waiting for my CEO to get it back to me... Plus I'm 7 jumps away from my ships right now in a shuttle and we're at war, PLUS I realized my clone is out of date.... So I need to wait for the war to be over before I can move anywhere. After that, it's back to monotonous mission running until I trained up to battlecruisers.

C&C3: Tiberium Wars... I refuse to play Kane's Wrath until I've played through Tiberium Wars. I have two missions left, so after I write this blog I think I'm going to finish up the game, than skip the alien campaign for now.

... Peace!

My Eve Online Conundrum

Well to Spot's approval I'm thinking about picking up Eve Online again, but I have a few issues. First off it bugs me how skill training takes so long in actual time, but that aside I can live with it... However, another problem I have in how long it takes to get places... Jesus, anything over 4 jumps makes me want to kill myself. Hmm... I'm probably just making excuses for myself. I should just start playing again. My main jam then is do I pick up on my old Caldari fighter, who was in a cruiser but has 0 ISK because i gave it to m corp when I quit... Or do I make a new character and become a miner... Or make a new character and become a Gallente because drones interest me, however I don't like railguns. I like missiles. =)

Well I kinda logged onto NapalmRiot today without going through a proxy.... I thinkz teh Dizney heardz me.... GETZ ON UR TINFOILZ HATSZ!1

Otherwise all is well. Reading more into Halo: Contact Harvest isn't too bad. I like how certain elements of the story ended up... I wish I could discuss them but I feel like they're spoilers to the general Halo storyline as a whole.

Meh, later... Still yearning for Mass Effect. Instead I'm settling for Epcot today. Wait... OMG, as I was writing this my dad was looking at things to do at Epcot and I get to drive a Segway for 2 hours!!

Disney Blocks NapalmRiot

Few points to hit on...

Mainly I'm currently vacationing around Florida for the week. I spent 4 days at Disney Vero Beach, which is a resort on the ocean. Fine fine... I didn't access the internet there. However for the last three days of my vacation I will be staying at Disney's Broadwalk. Here at the Broadwalk we have internet access through the room, so I have access for the first time now since I left home. Anyway... Disney's content filters BLOCK Napalmriot. As both a financial contributor to NapalmRiot and a shareholder in Disney, I'm very offended and I will be withdrawing my shares in Disney and dumping my meager investment into canned corn.

On a lighter, in the abscence of video games, I brought two books relating to video games. The first half of the vacation I read Mass Effect: Revelations. This is an excellent book, emphasis on excellent. I have one criteria for my vacations books; that they be simply stories, nothing where I have to read a paragraph twice to get this person's philospohical and totally fucked up perspective on whatever. Nonetheless Mass Effect: Revelations simply told a story. It was great. No fancy high brow language, just a simple story about how Captain Anderson became a candidate for a spectre and how Saren ruined it. However because this book was so good I finished it with relative haste.... So... I moved on to Halo: Contact Harvest. Well first off I'm a big fan of Eric Nylund and his three Halo books, so I don't take kindly to anyone else wirting the Halo books. But I swallowed my preference for author and began reading. I mean it's good so far, I'm about 125 pages in, and it tells a story. It's nice getting the backstory of Johnson and what not, but this guy's language is just too cliche and high brow. Example take page 75, last line in the paragraph... "Avery detected a hint of volition in Healy's Buffoonery..." I mean come on, I stopped reading after that line and let out a big, "WOW!"... Anyway, aside from flowery prose in Contact Harvest and over description of many things, it's a decent read.

... I just can't wait to get home and play some Mass Effect.

Vacation until next Sunday. BYE!

Gonna read Halo: Contact Harvest and Mass Effect: Revelations because since I can barely live without video games, I need to read their sci-fi plot spin-offs instead.

Sometimes we go through our day to day activities not realizing the monotony or repetition of our lives or the stress we overcome or the challenges we face... Sometimes the best solution is just to go to a Dentist's office for some work, and get high.

hmmm... I haven't played Mass effect in a long time, but recently I've gotten really hooked again. I first played through on a vanguard, and completely barely any side quests. Then I proceeded to make a soldier and play on Hardcore and it got too hard so I stopped playing. However, having picked it up again and realizing I can play through again on my old vanguard I'm very excited. I'm a pathetic level 48 and I can already go to Virmire. But I love playing a Vanguard so I don't care if it takes 3 play throughs to get to 60.

Another thing about this game and any xbox306 game is that I'm obsessed with gamerpoints. I replay many games, many times over, to get lots of gamerpoints. I've decided I'm going to play my vanguard through again to get the 2 play throughs achievement, and power gamer (lvl 50)... Then I'll make an engineer and a soldier just to get the skill mastery gamerpoints, and then abandon them and play through on my Vanguard and only do major plot missions to get through Hardcore and Insane. I also need to make an Adept so I can get the stasis and singularity masteries... For efficiency's sake I should have made an Adept instead of a Vanguard. Oh well. Oh yeah, and my soldier and engineer I need to switch up the group make up to get the different alien race ally achievements, and make one of them renegade.

I love Mass Effect and I love gamerpoints. If you bought those Burger King 360 games a year or so ago, the achievements are so easy, and they're worth so much!

There holding a Guitar Hero III contest at my school on Friday. I signed up with my friend who's better than me, since I'm really only going for fun. Anyhow, we practiced at my house today for 2 hours, played every hard song twice on expert then played some easy ones too. Then my other friends came over and we played Rockband, Halo3, and, R6: Vegas 2.

Since I have Rcokband for 360 I can download songs (albeit at around $1.00 a song). Nonetheless we rocked out to My Sharona, More Than A Feeling, Move Along, All The Small Things, Casey Jones. Hmmm... And all the good songs included in Rockband. I love playing drums with my mediocre skill, and then rocking out expert bass. I put my hoody up guitar way down load, thrashing to the beat. Hmmm... I'm going to write a review for Rockband. I like it more than Guitar Hero.

R6: Vegas 2... Even after playing it because my friend brought it over I still don't know if I want to buy it. It's alot like Vegas1, however I really didn't play that one much either. Nonetheless, I really like how realistic it is, yet frustrated how easily you die because it's so realistic. Hmmm... Who knows. I'll probably buy it because of my obsession with gamerpoints.

Twilight Princess.... Old news right? Well I just started playing it, and I love it. I mean the way it's panning out, I think this will be on right below Ocarina Of Time in terms of all the Zelda games I've played. And unfortunately I've only played maybe 3-4. I really should play through them all. I really enjoy Zelda... And I think I really like Twilight Princess because it feels so much like Ocarina of time. Meh. I'm just upset that I forgot a heart piece in the forest temple and I can't get back into that part of the temple in order to get it. So at the end of the game I'll have one less heart than I'll ever be able to have (since there's 45 fragments, and 5 make up a heart... I'll have 44 and so I'll have 8 hearts from the fragments, and a remainder of 4/5). This makes me sad. Unless I acquire a weapon later in the game like the grapple in Ocarina of Time.

Verify this trig identity:

tan^(2)x+5 = sec^(2)x+4
(the variable is not in the exponent)

I hope you remember your basic three trig identities. I labored over this question for EVER! Then I called up my aunt who's a math teacher and we laughed when I told her I spent forever on such an easy question.

Bonus question: Describe how ATP is made through the process of oxidative phosphorylation.

Orc Peon: Zug zug.

Society: work your balls off. Write 9 pages of essays today.
Me: ok. No problem.

I really didn't realize I wrote nine pages worth of essays today until I was finished... Then I was like damn I wrote a lot. But all my major third quarter projects are done and that's a lot off my chest. I don't have any major long term assignments due anytime soon. April 19th is the next big one, an essay on the novel The Fountainhead. So long as I don't feel the stress of a major assignment for one week I'm good, but I'm sure some class will get me by friday, they always do... hah.

I think I'm going to replay Gears of War next, then Mass Effect. I realized I'm addicted to gamerpoints. I need as many as possible. My friend beat the giant spider, a Corpser I believe (?), on insane on my gamertag and got me like 30 points =D. It's funny I won't even pick up brawl right now because I'm like "It won't give me gamerpoints, fuck that." Hah. Good marketing strategy Microsoft.

I haven't played Vegas, but I'm thinking about picking up Vegas 2. What do you guys think of the game?

On a side note I completed Halo 3 through on Heroic and got all the skulls. Rocked out the Hayabusa armor. Might try to go through on legendary one day. Playing through on Heroic really helped me online. I played 3 matches, won 2. Did good in 2. I just don't have the drive in me to play Halo 3 all day long online.

Next question is do I replay through Mass Effect or Gears of War next?
